What to Expect
By Madi Garvin | July 11, 2011
There are only two days (TWO DAYS!) remaining until the first Our Best Day So Far Class! Come out of the heat into the cool (in more than one sense of the word) Free Library of Philadelphia. Room 108! Be there!
Okay, so now I that have gotten the exclamation points out of my system…
Around 4:00 pm Brendan and Amy will introduce themselves. After this, you will meet your new friends! The class participants will then introduce themselves as well. After all of the formalities are out of the way, the super secret writing topic will be announced. Whether or not you choose to write about the specified topic, Amy and Brendan will be there to help you along the way. So, after about 20 minutes of writing, we shall discuss the stories all of you have written. Then, the stories will be collected and you guys can have some yummy snacks (you’ll have room after you put so much energy into writing ;)) and hang out!
Next the teens will join me to type up the stories on the computer. This is just as important because these stories need to be preserved for future programs and generations!
340 days ago, I went to my first The Best Day Of My Life So Far class. Less than a year ago, I was in your place. So I am going to pass on some words of wisdom (if a 16 year-old can even be wise.)
- Don’t have any trepidation! The more comfortable you are, the more fun you will have.
- Listen to everyone that speaks! I can guarantee that you will learn a little from everybody.
- Come back for the second class! I am hoping that you will have enjoyed the first one, so come back for more. If not, then come back just to see if it will be better (it will, it is easier to work the kinks out once you know what needs to be improved.)
- Bring your friends! The more people, the better. You and your friends will make a whole new group of friends.
I am looking forward to seeing you guys on Wednesday!
